Oswestry Food and Drink Festival

July 9, 2016 @ 12:00 pm - July 10, 2016 @ 10:30 pm

During the Oswestry Food and Drink Festival we will be serving our usual excellent range of Shropshire and Welsh cheese, antipasti, pork pies, scotch eggs and vegan/gluten free pies.

We will have a great range of bottled and key keg craft beers.

We are also arranging some very special cask beers. So far we have two in our cold store especially for the festival:

Pig and Porter Signs of Triviality Saison 5.5%. Belgian Saison style beer brewed by our friends at Pig & Porter this beer uses the very special OZ97a hop, read more about the hop here. Vegan friendly. Hazy. £3.00. Kent.

Oakham Oblivion 5.7%. This is from Oakham’s aged and vintage range. This small group of beers has more time care and attention lavished on them in their quest to be the very best of Oakham’s portfolio. It all starts with a great beer made and fermented in the usual way, but at the end of fermentation the beer is separated from its now tired yeast cells so the beer is brite. It is then racked into cask and krausened, the cask is then cellared like a fine wine. Hop: Centennial, Amarillo, Chinook Colour: Amber. £3.60. Peterborough.

Other real ales planned for the festival are:

Heavy Industry Diawl Bach 3.8% A pale sessionable ale. The blend of Amarillo, Cascade, Citra and Columbus hops mean that this little devil punches way above his weight. Dry hopped with Amarillo, Cascade and Citra whilst conditioning. This ‘little devil’ is a fruity hop bomb. £2.70. Denbigh. LocAle.

Hobson’s Dog of Two Head 4.2% Rock ‘n’ roll out of the barrel!
‘Dog of Two Head’ is a bespoke ale of distinction that offers a refined pedigree, based on character and tradition; qualities that define Status Quo. Crafted by Hobsons Brewery ‘Dog of Two Head’ is created from British malting barley and a blend of UK-grown Fuggles, Challenger, Goldings and Progress Hops. 5% of Hobson’s profits from this beer is donated to the Dogs Trust to help save the lives of thousands of stray and abandoned dogs across the UK. £2.70. Cleobury Mortimer.

Hafod Moel Famau 4.1% A speciality dark ale brewed using local heather giving a dry, roasty taste with an underlying sweet malt flavours. £2.70. Mold.
