International Women’s Day Beers

The 8 March is not only the pub’s ninth birthday, it is also International Women’s Day and we have very special line up of International Women’s Brew Day beers.

First up we have two stouts from Tom’s Tap and Brewhouse brewed with Ladies of Darkness, these two beers are designed to be drunk side by side.

“Women of a Certain Age” is a 10.5% Imperial Sticky Toffee Pudding Stout, in Keykeg. What goes with Sticky Toffee Pudding? “Shame Must Change Sides” is a 6.1% Vanilla Custard Stout in Cask.

Next up is “Gwennllian” by Bragdy Dwy Afon – Two Rivers Brewery in Aberystwyth. The ladies of Dwy Afon have brewed their first IWD beer, a 4.5% cask pale. Named after Gwenllian ferch Gruffydd, Wales’s Boudicca.

“Wrong Sized Space Suits” from Turning Point is a 4.2% DDH Pale with Talus and Ekuanot in cask, and the result of 67 pairs of women’s hands working together. Why the name? Wrong Sized Spacesuit refers to when NASA had to cancel their first all female spacewalk as they didn’t have enough Spacesuits for women (2) to go ahead!

“What Would Ripley Do?” is a 5.5% NEIPA in Keykeg that has been designed from the ground up by the brilliant girls of Brew York.

Wanting to pay homage to strong inspirational female characters, they unanimously agreed that our protagonist could be no other than the mighty Ellen Ripley, the alien-busting badass!
Everything from the recipe to the branding brief and the copy on the can was brainstormed and created by their amazing female team members.

This Double Dry Hopped IPA features New Zealand hops, Nelson and Nectaron, creating a juicy, hazy, and fruity profile with vibrant notes of grapefruit and citrus. A perfect balance of strength, wisdom, and craft-just like Athena herself.
