Why the ladies toilet doors are held open

We have come into some criticism tonight because the external doors to the ladies toilets are held open.

The door is to the hand washing area, the cubicles are fully closed. No different to a unisex toilet.

We have done this so ladies can see if anybody else is there, and maintain social distancing and also to limit hand contact with doors. Their privacy is maintained.

We have previously been asked why we haven’t done the same to the gents toilet. There is a wall within the gents to stop the urinals being visible and there is no internal lobby with handwashing. So doing the same there would not achieve the same purpose, all it would achieve is that the smell of the urinals would be carried throughout the pub.

We make no apology for doing the maximum we can to be a Covid safe venue.
